One student athlete's story about growing up and how BKYSC made a difference.
To enable and support inner-city Brooklyn youth to accomplish their goal of college enrollment. To use basketball as the vehicle to engage student-athletes to achieve academic excellence. To instill values of perseverance, self esteem, integrity, and hard work and empower student-athletes to be leaders on and off the court.
Less than 57% of Brooklyn students graduate from High School. 100% of our seniors graduate from High School. Out of these seniors, 100% make it to college or post graduate programs. Making sure our students excel – that is our challenge.
Basketball at BKYSC serves as a hook to engage student-athletes in our educational programs – it is the catalyst that inspires BKYSC student-athletes to take an interest in their academic progress succeed.
