March 9th, 2013
Brooklyn Badger graduate and Trevor Day School basketball player, Clio Markman, along with his sister, Edie, organized yet another hugely successful Student Hot Shots Challenge, raising $36,649 for BKYSC’s Beyond Basketball educational programs.  The fundraiser gained so much momentum that The Wall Street Journal featured an article about the event in their Saturday, March 9th edition (Click to see article). Over 20 Student participants from Independent, Public, and Catholic Schools, including current Badgers Elijah Frater, Doudmy Saint Hilare, Justin Silva, Donnell Clayton, and Akeem Smith, approached their families, family friends & co-workers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and just about anyone else they could think of to sponsor them for this event. Students were given two minutes to score as many points as they could from marked spots on the court and donations were made on a per point basis.
Brooklyn Badger Participants
A HUGE thanks to the Markman familly and all the students who participated in this event as well as all of the generous donors who made this event such a great success. The event, which brought different communities together and raised an impressive amount of money, was completely student-driven, making it all the more special.Building off the success of this event, BKYSC will be hosting its own Brooklyn Hot Shots Challenge Fundraiser, on May 4th, 2013 at at Urban Assembly HS in downtown brooklyn. This event will involve all of the Brooklyn Badgers and Lady Badgers. We look forward to providing more info on this event soon. Thank you very much for your continued support!
