The BKYSC Graduation Coach program is our most comprehensive and impactful volunteer opportunity – one where the mentor and student will work together from the end of 9th grade through graduation.
Graduation Coaches serve to develop and expand students’ horizons, provide connections to resources that fit mentee needs, and support youth through high school graduation. The scope and frequency of each mentor-mentee relationship varies, however there is an expectation that mentors are serve a pivital roles in mentees’ lives.
Graduation Coaches are expected to make a 3+ year commitment (if that’s not for you, click here to learn about our Empowerment Coach Mentorship Program). Ultimately, the goal is for students to develop skills in academic, social, and emotional well-being, to make real plans for college, and to have a reliable adult in their life to support them through the consistent challenges they face. Throughout the three-year mentorship program, ongoing support and guidance would be provided to ensure that mentees are progressing toward their goals and receiving the resources and support they need to succeed. Mentors would be trained to address any challenges or obstacles that may arise and connect mentees with additional resources and support as needed.
